History of Caminito del Rey
Built between 1901 and 1905 to connect hydroelectric plants through the dramatic Gaitanes Gorge. Workers used the narrow path attached to the cliffs high above the river.
In 1921 King Alfonso XIII crossed the route, giving it the name Caminito del Rey — The King’s Little Path.
Today it is one of Spain’s most visited natural attractions and a must-see excursion in Andalucía.
